The Capricious Tide

Like the Ancient Mariner who sails through the tide,
We go through life on this wavy ride.
Sometimes the tranquil waves that swiftly rock your boat,
Become ten feet high and you can barely stay afloat.
Port and starboard, your boat is floating on its side;
You run to the cabin, curl up and hide.
But you know you must take the wheel and steer the mast,
You have to let it go and leave it all in the past.
You wonder how these same waves that guide you through life
Can turn your world upside down with conflicting strife.
We all have a journey that we must sail,
We don’t win every battle, some we must fail.
Life is not an easy ride or a gentle breeze,
But everyday we grow and learn to navigate the roughest seas.
